Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in the Launch of the Global Humanitarian Overview 2023

H.E. Waleed El Khereiji, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the launch of the Global Humanitarian Overview work for the year 2023, which is hosted by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) in cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

In his speech during the event, His Excellency the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the keenness of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance relief and humanitarian work and encourage international cooperation to deal with all common challenges, indicating that the Kingdom is working to continue and intensify its projects in support of humanitarian and relief work through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid And Relief Centre, and through continuous cooperation with the United Nations and its competent agencies.

His Excellency the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs said: "The Kingdom has paid attention at the regional and international levels to leading and enabling humanitarian work within the framework of its presidency of the group of major donors for humanitarian aid, as it was able to unify international efforts to meet the humanitarian need by providing various aid that supports the humanitarian and relief field."

His Excellency addressed the Kingdom's support represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, with the support of more than 164 countries around the world during the past decades, and in cooperation with international organizations and bodies.

His Excellency stressed the Kingdom's call on the international community to play its roles, unite and cooperate to support stability and security, and alleviate poverty in countries that suffer from challenges and crises, to contribute effectively to face the humanitarian challenges the world is going through.

The global humanitarian overview is issued annually by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to present humanitarian needs and the resources needed to respond to them, and amplify the voices of affected people, particularly women and girls. The overview event is a global plan to engage decision-makers and humanitarian actors in highlighting key issues and urgent priorities, raising public awareness, and encouraging United Nations partners to contribute more to humanitarian operations.​
