​The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud held here today a session of official talks with the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.

Upon the King's arrival at the headquarters of the prime minister, he was received by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The King was received in an official ceremony; the national anthems of the two countries were played and he reviewed the guard of honor.

The Japanese Prime Minister shook hands with princes and ministers members of the official delegation accompanying the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The King also shook hands with senior Japanese officials.

Then the King and Japanese Prime Minister started a session of official talks.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques delivered a speech in which he said, "I am pleased to extend my best thanks to Japan's government and people for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.

I express my happiness to be in your friendly country with which we have had historical and economic relations, expressing my pleasure for the Kingdom's partnership with Japan in launching Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030, this vision will strengthen the strategic partnership between our two countries.

There is an urgent need to intensify international efforts to resolve issues and crises in the Middle East, including the Palestinian cause and ending Syrian and Yemeni crises, these crises have affected negatively on the region's stability and development, impeding the growth of international trade, and threatening ensuring of energy supplies to the world.

Terrorism has become the greatest danger to the security of nations and peoples, we are major partners in fighting it, and we are in need of concerted international efforts and hard work to deepen the concepts of dialogue between the followers of religions and cultures, and enhance the spirit of tolerance and coexistence between peoples.

For his part, the prime minister of Japan, expressed welcome of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, considering the visit as historical and aiming at developing and enhancing relations and achieving more partnership and investments between the two friendly countries.

He highlighted the previous visits between senior officials of the two countries, citing the strategic fruits they have yielded to the best benefit of the two friendly countries.

Then, the current relations between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields were discussed.

The session of talks was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet; Eng. Adel bin Mohammed Faqih, Minister of Economy and Planning; Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabee'a, Minister of Health; Dr. Ali Al-Ghofais, Minister of Labor and Civil Development; Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Tamim bin Abdulaziz Al-Salem, Assistant Special Secretary to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; and Ahmed bin Younes Al-Barak, Saudi Ambassador to Japan.

On the Japanese side, the meeting was attended by the ministers of finance; economy, commerce and industry and senior protocol officials.
