INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LEGALISATION OF DOCUMENTS
There are three basic categories of documents that the Embassy of Saudi Arabia will legalise. They are:
Export documents – Halal meat (Free of charge)
Export documents – Other goods (Free of charge)
Non-export related documents (AU$ 13.00)
The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Canberra will legalise documents for exports of Australian and New Zealand origin products to be landed in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain only. Products for export to other countries will need to be legalized by the relevant Embassy.
Payment for legalization of documents will only be accepted in the form of Money Order or a Bank Cheque. The fee for each document to be legalized is AU$ 13.00.
Each set of documents must be forwarded under a covering letter from the export company detailing exactly what is to be legalised, provide a copy of each document to be legalized for retention in the Embassy records, include a cheque payable to “Embassy of Saudi Arabia” covering the correct amount for payment, and provide a self-addressed, pre-paid return Express Post envelope or Courier satchel.
All documents to be legalized must be original documents, or copies that have been certified true and correct by a Notary Public (Export documents) and both a Notary Public and DFAT (non-export documents).
All export documents must bear a stamp and signature of a recognized signatory from a Chamber of Commerce registered with the Embassy. As there a number of registered Chambers of Commerce, should you require assistance in identifying an appropriate Chamber of Commerce in your district, please call the Embassy Legalisation Office on
+61 2 62507004.
Failure to meet with any of these requirements may delay the processing of documents or cause them to be returned without actioning.
